In a bid to build on the momentum of sports-tourism activity happening at River City Sportsplex, Chesterfield officials have turned their attention to improvements at another recreation facility.

The vote to reject the plan, which had been close to two years in the making, followed a period this summer in which the county solicited input from residents and received hundreds of responses.

Other planned enhancements include added shelter capacity at a former hostel building downtown and at the Salvation Army’s HQ in Northside.

Reworked rules meant to permit short-term home rentals in Richmond while preserving the city’s available housing stock are heading to City Council for potential adoption Monday.

The petition to create a community development authority for the $2.4 billion project will be filed once the city-owned land conveys to the EDA.
